Location

Owosso was originally inhabited by the Chippewa Native American tribes. The area was named after a Chippewa chief named Wasso. In 1819, the area was first settled by Europeans. On February 15, 1859, Owosso was incorporated as a city. Local attorney and banker, Amos Gould, was the first mayor of Owosso.
